Aubaine Chooses Wimbledon for First Suburban Location

March 29, 2012

Davis Coffer Lyons has completed the acquisition of the former Common Room site on Wimbledon High Street, London SW19 on behalf of Aubaine, the French restaurant and patisserie operator.

The new site in Wimbledon Village will be the first suburban location for Aubaine which is led by Hani Nakkash. The company has signed a new 20 year lease at 18a High Street which comprises approximately 2,400 sq ft.

Aubaine already operates five sites in the centre of London, and two in Manchester. The group’s other London sites are located at Brompton Cross, Regent Street, Kensington, London’s Selfridges, and Dover Street in Mayfair.

Josh Leon, Associate Director at Davis Coffer Lyons’ Agency team, said, “Aubaine wanted to minimise risk with their first high street site outside their classy central London heartland, yet Wimbledon Village has a lot in common with the stylish and chic areas of Kensington, Chelsea and Marylebone. You only have to look at the fashion retail on offer which is very top end, which is also reflected in values which continue to rise in this location. Aubaine’s relaxed, all-day and relatively refined offer should definitely appeal to the locals.”

Aubaine offers and all-day menu with a bias towards French cuisine. The menu plays host to fashionable Med-influenced fare, within a setting of subtly distressed wooden furniture and soft lighting. The menu comprises items such as roast rack of lamb with a niçoise garnish, lobster spaghetti or Roquefort salad with pears, dandelions and figs, as well as some global wines amongst the French contingent. The patisserie offers breads, viennoiserie, madeleines, macarons, mille-feuilles, financiers, ficelle and fougasse in urban restaurant surrounds.

Davis Coffer Lyons advised Aubaine. The vendor, Jamies London Ltd was advised by Cedar Dean Gilmarc.
