June 16, 2014

Café Pistou the new all-day Provencal small plate concept from Charlie McLean, the former managing director of CAU Restaurants and ex-Gaucho Group finance director, has, through Davis Coffer Lyons – the leisure specialists – secured a first site in Exmouth Market in Clerkenwell. Martin Bloom from Insight Retail acted as joint agent for Pistou.

McLean, who left Gaucho last year, has teamed up with Raymond Blanc’s protégé and author of award winning book ‘Cooking in Provence’, Alex Mackay, to launch the new cafe, restaurant and bar. Simon Conboy, the previous executive chef at The Ivy and Rivington Grill in Dubai has been appointed as executive chef.

Café Pistou will serve an all-day offer with a menu focusing on small plate dishes from the region. It will serve coffees and brunch throughout the day as well as more of a restaurant and bar atmosphere in the evenings.  The deal is due to complete in early July with the new concept due to open this September (2014).

Jake Bernstone a Restaurant Agent at Davis Coffer Lyons, said: “Pistou will be a fantastic addition to Exmouth market. The concept is innovative and provides a real point of difference to the current offer available on the high street. Exmouth market will be a great launch pad for the brand, which is already looking toward further expansion.”

Richard Negus at AG&G acted for the vendor.
