DCL Completes on Lydons Restaurant in Wimbledon Village

July 12, 2011

Davis Coffer Lyons has completed completed the disposal of Lydons restaurant in Wimbledon Village for a new quality, fine-dining venue led by an overseas restaurateur.

The 20 year lease was signed at a rent of £85,000 per annum with a premium for the previous business of £300,000. The unit comprises ground floor and basement totalling 2,418 sq ft. Located on the fashionable high street, close to Carluccios, Café Rouge and the Dog and Fox. Nearby retailers include the deli Bailey and Sage, and fashionable retailers LK Bennet Joseph, and Jack Wills.

Josh Leon, of Davis Coffer Lyons, also responsible for bringing Cote and Le Pain Quotidien to Wimbledon, acted on behalf of owner Peter Lydon who is now retiring from the restaurant scene. “Wimbledon Village is a very special place where prices are consistently more in line with prime Chelsea than a suburban village in Zone 3. Lydon has operated his restaurant for a number of years and I know he has a loyal following but there is an opportunity here for the new owners to modernise and cater to a younger crowd if they wish. They’ve done their research and they certainly had a baptism of fire by taking the reins in the middle weekend of the tennis fortnight. We are excited to see the response from locals when the place reopens after a planned refit in the Autumn.”
