DCL Hosts 14th Annual Property Chef Competition

July 2, 2012

Last month, Estates Gazette and Davis Coffer Lyons hosted its 14th annual Property Chef competition at Jamie Oliver’s Union Jacks restaurant at Central St Giles, WC1.

Niche commercial agent Richard Susskind & Company beat stiff competition to be crowned this year’s Property Chef winner.

Richard Susskind’s David Toubian and Lauren Leach snatched the title from last year’s winners, Cedar Dean Gilmarc, after three competitive rounds at Union Jacks and a cook-off, between finalists Selsian and Davis Coffer Lyons.

Under the trained eye of general manager James Ludbrook, 12 teams of leisure agents concocted a British Storm cocktail, comprising Pusser’s Admiralty Rum, dandelion and burdock; and a Roobarb & Custard long drink, made up of Chase Hereford Rhubarb Liqueur, apple and cinnamon.

Head chef Paul Harryman judged the cookery round, where the teams made Woodman flatbread, kneading the dough and smothering it with mixed field and wild mushrooms, Westcombe cheddar, red onion, tarragon and chervil.

The teams were also grilled in a Jubilee-themed quiz with the Royals and Michelin-starred restaurants top of the agenda.

The three finalists then made it into the final cook-off where they each created their own signature flatbreads. But It was Richard Susskind’s Jacks & Pollock flatbread that sealed the team’s victory.
