Italian Ice Cream Chain Expands to Eight with St Pancras International Opening

July 29, 2011

Authentic Italian ice cream company, Gelato Mio, has opened its eighth outlet at St Pancras International. Davis Coffer Lyons’ Development Leasing team acted on behalf of HS1 Ltd, owners of St Pancras International, to secure the trendy ice cream concept to the high profile premises. Located in St Pancras International’s bustling Arcade area, the unit comprises 330 sq ft.

The Milan-inspired concept has also opened another new unit on Muswell Hill’s Broadway, NW10, complementing its existing sites in Belsize Park, St John’s Wood, Fulham, Chiswick, Notting Hill and the original premises at Holland Park.

Gelato Mio was founded by Carlo Del Mistro opening on Holland Park Avenue in 2008. In addition to ice cream, they offer a range of authentic Italian coffee, panini and patisserie.

Alice Keown, Davis Coffer Lyons, said: “Since opening in 2007, St Pancras International has sought to offer much more than your standard station fayre. The high quality and fashionable eating and dining options on offer have mirrored the station’s remarkable refurbishment. Gelato Mio really complements the other flourishing catering brands on offer, such as the world class St Pancras Grand restaurant and Champagne Bar, Le Pain Quotidien, Peyton and Byrne and Sourced Market.

Carlo Del Mistro, Gelato Mio, said: “We use natural ingredients served in an authentic Italian-style environment, and that is something which is very important for the clientele here at St Pancras International. Those passing through from the continent know their ice-cream! We really felt that there was no ice cream parlour in the UK market which offers the kind of great tasting and naturally flavoured product you can find it Italy. The fact we’ve been able to grown an array of sites is proof of the concept’s potential and one which can continue to grow.”

St Pancras International continues to grow as part of the HS1 business and now the station welcomes up to one million visitors every week with these numbers and spend per head growing steadily.
