The Oystermen to open in Covent Garden

June 14, 2017

Capital & Counties Properties PLC (‘Capco’) has announced that seasoned restaurant professionals The Oystermen have agreed terms to open their first restaurant in Covent Garden this summer.

Located at Henrietta Street, The Oystermen Seafood Bar & Kitchen will showcase the finest and freshest oysters and seafood from the British Isles. Alongside the oyster bar, the restaurant will serve a host of seafood and daily fresh fish dishes, enhanced by a carefully-curated wine list and bespoke oyster stout.

The Oystermen concept was born in 2014 by chefs and friends Matt Lovell and Rob Hampton. The duo have since earned a reputation for providing a relaxed, affordable and fun dining experience, celebrating Britain’s finest and freshest oysters and seafood with pop-up oyster bars at events in London, including a residency at wine merchant The Sampler.

As the latest addition to Henrietta Street, the brand will sit alongside the newly opened Henrietta Hotel and acclaimed restaurants Frenchie and Sticks ‘n’ Sushi, in addition to the host of British menswear fashion brands on the street, including Cheaney, Nigel Cabourn and Fred Perry.

Michelle McGrath, Director of Capco Covent Garden, commented on the announcement: “We are delighted that home-grown British brand, The Oystermen, has chosen Covent Garden’s Henrietta Street to launch their first restaurant in London. The Oystermen will complement the curated mix of sought-after dining, menswear and lifestyle brands on the street, further enhancing Covent Garden’s restaurant scene which continues to go from strength to strength.”
