“Bonheur by Matt Abé” Unveiled for Mayfair’s Former Le Gavroche Site
July 16, 2025

Following the announcement earlier this year that Matt Abé – Chef Patron at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay – would be opening his first solo venture at 43 Upper Brook Street, formerly home to Le Gavroche, initial details have now been revealed.
“Bonheur by Matt Abé” will launch in Mayfair in the Autumn, billed as “a fine-dining experience designed to inspire complete contentment. A celebration of seasonality, community, and craft.” According to Hot Dinners, the food will be “classically rooted” but with a “contemporary touch” and feature Abé’s “dedication to detail”.
“Bonheur translates to ‘happiness’ in French, so for me, Bonheur is a place of escapism,” said Abé. “We’re breathing new life into an iconic site, creating a space that is elevated without overwhelming; that is warm, timeless, and comfortable; and that celebrates community, craftsmanship and the bounty of the British Isles.”
Russell Sage Studio have designed the restaurant, which will feature a six-seater chef’s table experience called “Petit Bonheur”. Abé is being backed in the venture by Gordon Ramsay, who worked at Le Gavroche as a young chef under Albert Roux.
Davis Coffer Lyons is proud to have acted on behalf of Grand Residence Club by Marriott to source a fitting new tenant for the 4,000 sq ft restaurant – a fine-dining institution – which sits below GRC’s luxury residences.
