Amsterdam’s Sushi Fanatics to Make UK Debut on Islington’s Chapel Market

July 17, 2025

Sushi Fanatics – Amsterdam’s “hidden sushi izakaya” – is to make its UK debut, having secured a first London location at 9 Chapel Market, Islington.

The brand launched onto Amsterdam’s sushi scene in 2020, when owners Erica and L’ opened a small sushi shop on the Albert Cuyp Market, before relocating in 2022 to a site which allowed them to launch omakase experience Shigure in a “hidden” room later that year.  The due have since also launched matcha concept Taigu.

Known for their authentic Japanese dishes crafted with the highest quality ingredients, Sushi Fanatics has built a loyal following, combining precision, freshness, and a modern approach to traditional Japanese cuisine.

Davis Coffer Lyons acted on behalf of the private landlord to let the 1,000 sq ft unit, which was previously occupied by Hot Stone.

The opening underscores the appeal of Islington’s reinvigorated food scene.  Davis Coffer Lyons recently secured Sticks n Sushi for an opening at 77-78 Upper Street.  Two units that we are marketing on Upper Street have attracted good interest from F&B operators, with one under offer and the other soon to be placed into solicitors hands.  DCL’s Lease Advisory team has also been active in the area, recently completing the lease renewal of Pizza Express at 335 Upper Street.
