New Sri Lankan Street Food Concept ADOH! to Launch in Covent Garden’s Maiden Lane

April 29, 2025

ADOH!, a new Sri Lankan street food concept from Kolamba founders Eroshan and Aushi Meewella, will launch this summer on Covent Garden’s Maiden Lane, swelling the ranks of its eating and drinking offers.

Named after a popular Sri Lankan exclamation, often used in greeting or surprise, ADOH! will draw inspiration from Sri Lanka’s colourful roadside eateries, venturing beyond the island’s home cooking traditions, and capturing the vibrancy of Sri Lankan street food culture with a menu of comforting favourites, designed for quick, hearty eating.

Central to the restaurant’s offering will be kothu: a dish of chopped roti, vegetables, and eggs, tossed together on a grill and finished with curry sauce. Further menu items will include snacks like Chilli prawn toast with tamarind sauce, a coastal favourite typical of Galle’s street corners; crispy Mutton rolls; Devilled sausages; and Vadai, savoury lentil doughnuts served with tomato, coconut, and mint chutneys. For dessert, a Salted jaggery soft serve brings a playful take to the ice-cream van favourite, featuring the traditional, caramel-like syrup from the island. To wash it all down, ADOH! will offer the customary Sri Lankan pairing of draught beer, as well as a concise selection of wine, cocktails, and softs.

Commenting on the opening Eroshan said; ‘We’re excited to be honouring the food stories from our home country and bringing another aspect of our culinary heritage to London in Covent Garden. ADOH! will celebrate Sri Lankan street food at its finest, from fried rice, to small bites on the beach in Colombo, and of course, the theatre of kothu making.’

The 70 cover restaurant, which benefits from an additional 12 external covers, has been designed by Whitebox London in collaboration with Sri Lankan designers and artists, and will welcome guests for lunch and dinner, 7-days a week.

ADOH! Will open at 36 Maiden Lane; one of two newly created restaurant units at the heart of a Covent Garden eating and drinking hub.  News of another exciting opening at 37 Maiden Lane will be soon be announced.
