Wren Pubs to open neighbourhood pub on Chelsea’s Sloane Square

March 24, 2026

Wren Pubs, the proudly independent London hospitality group founded by Jack Greenall, has secured the lease of 7 Sloane Square in London’s Chelsea neighbourhood. Previously occupied by The Botanist restaurant, the new site will be the fourth addition to Wren Pubs’ growing portfolio of West London-based, community-minded pubs.

Following the completion of the new lease in June 2026, the site will undergo a sensitive refurbishment, returning the site to its roots as a neighbourhood pub. Colourful, warm interiors – full of character and typical of Wren Pubs venues – will draw on the history of Sloane Square and the building itself, with local artists and craftspeople commissioned to create a welcoming space that celebrates its heritage, with community at its heart.

The site will retain its late-night licence, allowing service until 1am, with live music set to form a core part of the weekly offer. Food and drink will remain rooted in the Wren Pubs ethos, championing independent suppliers, seasonal produce and classic, unfussy pub dishes. The drinks list will feature an extensive signature cocktail list, as well as highlighting small batch brewers and wines predominantly from small family estates.

Given the site’s proximity to the Royal Court Theatre, the team also plans to introduce a dedicated pre- and post-theatre menu, alongside a late-night food and drinks offer aimed at theatre-goers and guests from Chelsea, nearby Belgravia, Knightsbridge and from across London.

Jack Greenall, owner of Wren Pubs, says, ‘We are very proud to be opening a fourth site – especially in Chelsea where our journey began with the opening of The Surprise – and it’s a pleasure to be working with Cadogan again. 7 Sloane Square was originally the site of a pub that was central to the neighbourhood, so it feels particularly poignant that the venue will be returning to its original purpose. We’re honoured to be taking on the stewardship of such a well-loved site and look forward to welcoming both familiar faces and new guests soon.’

Hugh Seaborn, Chief Executive of Cadogan, comments, “We have just completed a £60million investment into the public realm to make Sloane Street and Sloane Square more welcoming, beautiful places. Finding the very best hospitality partners to elevate the pubs, restaurants and bars across the neighbourhood is a crucial part of this strategy.  We know that Jack and his team at Wren Pubs create brilliant ‘locals’ with individual character which really celebrate and contribute to the community – warm, welcoming and traditional in the best possible way.”

The news comes after group’s recent acquisition of the freehold of both Carpenter’s Arms on the Hammersmith-Chiswick border and the Walmer Castle in Notting Hill earlier this year. Alongside its third venue, The Surprise in Chelsea, the group’s three pubs now generate turnover in excess of £10 million, with like-for-like revenue up 20% year on year in December 2025.

With a family history in brewing and pub management spanning centuries, Greenall founded Wren Pubs with a focus on revitalising characterful, historic pubs, giving them a new lease of life while respecting the heritage of each building and the traditions of English innkeeping.  The acquisition of a fourth site signals the group’s clear commitment to its long-term future, and the that of the wider hospitality sector in London.

More details on the name, opening date and design will be revealed soon.
