DCL Complete Humble Grape Assignment to Sourdough Sophia for Crouch End Upsize
July 28, 2026

Hospitality and leisure property specialist Davis Coffer Lyons has completed the assignment of wine bar Humble Grape’s lease at 4 Topsfield Parade in Crouch End, to artisanal neighbourhood bakery Sourdough Sophia, which has upsized from its original location in the neighbourhood.
Founded in lockdown by husband and wife team Sophia Handschuh and Jesse Sutton Jones after running a kitchen table operation for 6 months, the micro bakery’s first bricks and mortar site opened in Crouch End’s Middle Lane in late 2020. It’s huge rise in popularity since has led to a further six openings including in Hampstead, Muswell Hill and Islington. The new 2,500 sq ft location provides more seating as well as a garden for customers to enjoy, and a larger kitchen for the production of the bakery’s range of sourdough loaves and sweet and savoury pastries, including its signature passionfruit bow.
Humble Grape assigned their lease in order to focus on new openings in more central locations. DCL acted on behalf of Humble Grape on the assignment, and is retained to source new sites, both for Humble Grape and their restaurant brand, Vivat Bacchus. Contact Louie Gazdar to discuss their requirements.
