DCL Delivers Gaucho for Covent Garden Launch
January 17, 2023
Rare Restaurants has picked Covent Garden to launch its steakhouse Gaucho in a flagship restaurant unit on James Street, which will be the first opening for the brand in London in a number of years.
Acting on behalf of Capco, DCL let the 6,200 sq ft unit at 8/9 James Street, occupying a highly prominent corner opposite Covent Garden station and moments away from the iconic Piazza.
The new opening, Rare Restaurants MD Martin Williams told City AM, “demonstrates our confidence in London. Many brands that have twenty restaurants, like we do, may just be focussing on national expansion,” he said.
“But we’ve had so much success, and are so well-known and so well-loved in London, that this is a reflection of confidence that our demographics and our regular guests love the brand, recognise the brand and will use it a lot.”
Gaucho joins a stellar line up of homegrown and international hospitality brands in Covent Garden, which includes new opening Stereo by Experimental Group. Landlord Capco is a long term responsible investor and forward looking steward of the Covent Garden estate, committed to reaching net zero by 2030 and aiming to make Covent Garden a UK leader in sustainability by delivering positive environmental and social outcomes whilst protecting the unique character and unique heritage of the estate. Rare Restaurants announced last year that it would be serving carbon neutral steaks across its entire restaurant estate – which includes M Restaurants – as part of its drive towards a more sustainable future.
The 120 cover restaurant will open in June.
