Japanese group, Kibou, to open 5th site in Cambridge this August

June 8, 2023

A former PizzaExpress, the Jesus Lane site will be the group’s largest restaurant yet with a total of 150 covers.

It will join the group’s existing restaurants in Cheltenham, Battersea, Bristol and Solihull taking the group to a total of 5 sites.

The menu at KIBOU Cambridge will centre on their beautifully presented sushi and sashimi sharing platters, including a 20-piece luxury ‘tokujo moriawase’, alongside signature sushi rolls, hand-pressed nigiri, and a range of other classic and contemporary Japanese dishes. Expect to find A5 grade seared wagyu served as a marinated tataki or a truffle-topped nigiri, crisp ebi (prawn) or vegetable tempura, steaming bowls of ramen, made with pork, chicken or vegan broth, traditional donburi rice bowls, and a selection of pillowy bao buns or handmade spiced pork gyoza.

The restaurant will also feature a standalone bar serving signature Japanese-inspired cocktails, no-and-low options, an ambitious selection of Japanese whisky, sake and umeshu, and Japanese-brewed beers.

Kibou was founded by former Regent Inns CEO, David Franks in 2019 , following his acquisition of KIBOUSushi in Cheltenham.

Repesenting the Landlord, elite Cambridge members club The Pitt Club (who’s former members include; David Frost, John Maynard Keynes, Baron Bilomoria and Eddie Redmayne to name but a few), Rob Meadows of DCL negotiated a new 25 year lease for Kibou.
