Butchery takes centre stage at Macellaio RC’s new Theatreland flagship
June 16, 2021
Expanding Italian restaurant group Macellaio RC has launched a West End flagship at 39-45 Shaftesbury Avenue, part of the Geilgud Theatre.
The new site is the seventh London opening for the concept, created by Roberto Costa, which combines butchery and dining, and features a giant charcoal barbecue grill as its centrepiece, providing butchery theatre and creating a unique atmosphere. A wide variety of cocktails is available to accompany matched cuts of meats well as a vast selection of Italian wine.
Davis Coffer Lyons acted on behalf of theatre group Delfont Mackintosh Theatres to let the unit, previously occupied by Café Monico, which provides 5,000 sq ft over basement, ground and mezzanine floors with extensive frontage onto Shaftesbury Avenue Theatreland. Associate Director Sally French said “This flagship letting is a vibrant addition to the West End. We’re delighted to watch it springing back to life, not only in terms of its restaurants, pubs, cafes and bars but also the return of all the fantastic shows that Theatreland has to offer.”
Dean Gambles & Co acted on behalf of Macellaio RC.
