British Land Appoints DCL to Repeat its Success at Whiteley

June 10, 2013

DCL – the leisure specialists – has been appointed by British Land and USS, the JV partners, as the sole agent to work on phase two of Whiteley Shopping in Hampshire. The appointment follows DCL’s success in delivering the leisure element of the scheme’s first phase.

The 320,000 sq ft mixed-use scheme anchored by M&S and Tesco opened last month (May 2013) and includes restaurants Dean’s Diner, Harvester, Frankie & Bennie’s, Prezzo and Chimichanga together with Starbucks, Costa and Cafe Nero. Phase 2 – which will include a multi-screen cinema along with additional restaurant units – is due for completion in May 2015.

Alice Keown, Associate Director at DCL commented: “The restaurants at Whiteley Shopping have enjoyed bumper takings in their opening weeks with takings exceeding everyone’s expectations. British Land and USS have created a fantastic development and we are delighted to have been appointed as sole agent on the final phase.”

DCL boasts a strong working relationship with British Land and is appointed on a number of its schemes around the UK including Meadowhall, Regents Place, Broadgate and Whiteley.
