Former Bramwell Pub to Reopen as Bar Sport

August 27, 2014

A prominent High Street public house in the centre of Braintree in Essex, which closed when Bramwell Pub Company collapsed into administration, is to reopen as Bar Sport.  Davis Coffer Lyons – the leisure specialists – secured the letting on a new free-of-tie lease on behalf of Roseland Finance Company.

A franchisee of the popular sports bar & grill concept has taken the 7,590 sq ft former Silkworm pub – which benefits from a 3am licence, seven days a week – at a rent of £50,000.

The three storey terrace property enjoys an extensive frontage onto the town’s busy High Street. The ground floor comprises a large trading space including the main bar, three seating areas, DJ booth and dance floor and a beer garden and terrace to the rear. There is also a food preparation area with two dumb waiters which connect with the first floor trade kitchen and its two built in cold rooms.

The first floor also has male and female toilets, separate staff toilets, two offices, cellar store (with a barrel lift), extensive storage space and a two bedroom flat with kitchen/diner and bathroom. The second floor is currently used only as plant room and storage.

Paul Tallentyre, Director at Davis Coffer Lyons said: “This is one of the largest and most prominent pubs in Braintree and, as such, was incredibly popular with a wide range of different operators. Bar Sport is a great concept and its business model is ideally suited type of property.  Having enjoyed great success in similar locations around the UK we have no doubt that this venue will trade just as well.”
