Jamie’s Union Jacks to Open in Covent Garden’s Historic Market Building

April 17, 2012

Jamie Oliver’s successful new restaurant, Jamie’s Union Jacks, will open in July in Covent Garden’s historic Market Building, making it the latest exciting restaurant concept to join the neighbourhood.

Jamie’s Union Jacks will occupy 3,500 sq ft, over two floors in the North Hall of the Market Building, and will become a central feature of the vibrant Market Building and Piazza. The ground-floor dining room will seat up to 108 guests around an open kitchen so that diners can watch the chefs at work whilst the lower level will be able to seat a further 50 diners.

The brainchild of Jamie Oliver and Chris Bianco, the Union Jacks menu combines Chris’s technical expertise and artisan dough-making with Jamie’s love of top-quality ingredients. Jamie’s Union Jacks takes diners on a journey of discovery, using all British produce, cooked and presented the Union Jacks way. The flatbreads and wood-fired cooking methods nod to traditions that are universally loved. Speaking about Jamie’s Union Jacks Covent Garden, Jamie Oliver said:”The Piazza at Covent Garden is one of the most buzzing parts of the city, with Londoners and tourists visiting all day and night. So this Union Jacks needs to be special and it will be – the restaurant will look fantastic.”

Beverley Churchill, Brand Director, Covent Garden said: “Over the past few months Covent Garden has become London’s new foodie hot spot attracting fantastic new concept restaurants such as Jamie’s Union Jacks and international icons including Balthazar. With its menu featuring creations exclusive to Covent Garden and its unique location within the Market Building, we are delighted to welcome Jamie’s Union Jacks to the neighbourhood. ”
