La Gelateria Turns Up the Heat on Ice Cream in Covent Garden

September 26, 2011

Covent Garden has become London’s newest hotspot for high-end Italian gelato, with the arrival of high-end gelato, La Gelateria, which has recently opened for business at 27 New Row. Secured by Davis Coffer Lyons’ Development Leasing team on behalf of Shaftesbury, the new gelato and coffee parlour provides a slow food ethic.

London is currently displaying an augmented appetite for traditional gelato, with the likes of Gelato Mio, Gelatorino and The Icecreamists, in addition to sleek frozen yoghurt chains such as Pinkberry, Snog, and Yoforia taking the market by storm.

Kate Taylor, Davis Coffer Lyons, said: “These brands have all proven an elegant match with fashionable consumers and are often utilising the natural goodness in their products to change the London ‘snackscape’. Likewise, La Gelateria incorporates healthy seasonal ingredients into their creations, but is focused on some very elegant combinations like white peach and prosecco Bellini, and Ricotta e Fichi, which really raise the bar, along with its artisan coffee.

Covent Garden in particular, has really championed this trend, with the widest array of ice dessert operators and also played host to the Dri Dri pop up parlour at the St Martin’s Lane Hotel, converted into an idyllic Italian beach.”
