August 31, 2012

Pre-lets at East Gate Leisure Quarter, Llanelli rise to 90% with signings to Greene King and Nando’s at the £20 million leisure scheme East Gate Leisure Quarter in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. This takes the scheme to 90% pre-let or under offer with less than two months until opening in October.

Greene King, the leading pub retailer and brewer in the UK, has this week taken 4,900 sq ft, for its Hungry Horse format, while Nando’s has taken 3,790 sq ft. These operators will join Odeon Cinemas, Travelodge and Costa Coffee amongst others already committed with only one restaurant unit remaining.

The scheme, developed by Henry Davidson Developments, a wholly owned subsidiary of Development Securities PLC, comprises a mix of restaurant, retail and café units, with office and hotel accommodation above, fronting onto attractive areas of new public realm. The development will also be served by 236 surface car parking spaces and a new bus interchange facility, which completed and opened last year.

The development will be further enhanced by the construction of the new 550-seat Carmarthenshire Regional Theatre, which adjoins East Gate, where work is scheduled for completion towards the end of the year. The theatre is being developed by Carmarthenshire County Council and will help to establish this location as the leading regional leisure destination drawing customers from Carmarthen to Swansea.

Scott Davidson, MD of Henry Davidson Developments said, “We are delighted with the pace and lettings success at East Gate which has bucked the national trend and outperformed several of its competitors. The signing of national brands like Greene King and Nandos underlines the quality and attraction of this scheme as a leading regional leisure destination. We look forward to announcing further lettings ahead of practical completion in October.”

Letting Agents for the scheme are Davis Coffer Lyons and EJ Hales.
